Surah `Abasa

Daftar Surah

‘Abasa wa tawallā.
[1] The Prophet frowned and turned away

An jā'ahul-a‘mā.
[2] Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].

Wa mā yudrīka la‘allahū yazzakkā.
[3] But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified

Au yażżakkaru fatanfa‘ahuż-żikrā.
[4] Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?

Ammā manistagnā.
[5] As for he who thinks himself without need,

Fa anta lahū taṣaddā.
[6] To him you give attention.

Wa mā ‘alaika allā yazzakkā.
[7] And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.

Wa ammā man jā'aka yas‘ā.
[8] But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]

Wa huwa yakhsyā.
[9] While he fears [Allah],

Fa anta ‘anhu talahhā.
[10] From him you are distracted.

Kallā innahā tażkirah(tun).
[11] No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;

Faman syā'a żakarah(ū).
[12] So whoever wills may remember it.

Fī ṣuḥufim mukarrmah(tin).
[13] [It is recorded] in honored sheets,

Marfū‘atim muṭahharah(tin).
[14] Exalted and purified,

Bi'aidī safarah(tin).
[15] [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,

Kirāmim bararah(tin).
[16] Noble and dutiful.

Qutilal-insānu mā akfarah(ū).
[17] Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.

Min ayyi syai'in khalaqah(ū).
[18] From what substance did He create him?

Min nuṭfah(tin), khalaqahū fa qaddarah(ū).
[19] From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;

Ṡummas-sabīla yassarah(ū).
[20] Then He eased the way for him;

Ṡumma amātahū fa aqbarah(ū).
[21] Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.

Ṡumma iżā syā'a ansyarah(ū).
[22] Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.

Kallā lammā yaqḍi mā amarah(ū).
[23] No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.

Falyanẓuril-insānu ilā ṭa‘āmih(ī).
[24] Then let mankind look at his food -

Annā ṣababnal-mā'a ṣabbā(n).
[25] How We poured down water in torrents,

Ṡumma syaqaqnal-arḍa syaqqā(n).
[26] Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],

Fa'ambatnā fīhā ḥabbā(n).
[27] And caused to grow within it grain

Wa ‘inabaw wa qaḍbā(n).
[28] And grapes and herbage

Wa zaitūnaw wa nakhlā(n).
[29] And olive and palm trees

Wa ḥadā'iqa gulbā(n).
[30] And gardens of dense shrubbery

Wa fākihataw wa abbā(n).
[31] And fruit and grass -

Matā‘al lakum wa li'an‘āmikum.
[32] [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.

Fa iżā jā'atiṣ-ṣākhkhah(tu).
[33] But when there comes the Deafening Blast

Yauma yafirrul-mar'u min akhīh(i).
[34] On the Day a man will flee from his brother

Wa ummihī wa abīh(i).
[35] And his mother and his father

Wa ṣāḥibatihī wa banīh(i).
[36] And his wife and his children,

Likullimri'im minhum yauma'iżin sya'nuy yugnīh(i).
[37] For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.

Wujūhuy yauma'iżim musfirah(tun).
[38] [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -

Ḍāḥikatum mustabsyirah(tun).
[39] Laughing, rejoicing at good news.

Wa wujūhuy yauma'iżin ‘alaihā gabarah(tun).
[40] And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.

Tarhaquhā qatarah(tun).
[41] Blackness will cover them.

Ulā'ika humul-kafaratul-fajarah(tu).
[42] Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
